
Every capsule wardrobe post promises a version of the same thing: a small number of pieces, an impressively large number of outfits, and a vague gesture at “endless combinations” in between. The gesture is the problem. Twelve pieces do not produce endless outfits, they produce a specific, countable number, and that number depends entirely on which twelve pieces you pick.
